Angela M. Peterson

July 27, 1973 — January 13, 2024

Kewaunee

Angela Marie Peterson, age 50, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, January 13, 2024. She was born on July 27, 1973, to Arlin and Mary Lou (Barbiaux) Karnopp.

In 1991, Angela graduated from Kewaunee High School and went on to receive her degree in Hospitality & Tourism from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1996. Her degree took her to Madison, where she met her soulmate, Mike, and they married on February 14, 1998. Together, they built a life in Madison, where their daughter Emma was born. In 2001, they returned to the Kewaunee area.

Angela thrived in her career in hotel management in Green Bay. She was a member of the Allouez Business Association. Her work ethic was clear each day—always going above and beyond. Her drive and integrity demonstrated how deserving she was of her recently achieved position of General Manager at Hawthorne Suites. She took immense pride in this role, and her dedication and hard work earned her the respect of colleagues and admiration of her team.

More than anything, Angela cherished her family. Her husband, Mike, and daughter, Emma, were the center of her universe. In addition to her immediate family, Angela is survived by her parents Arlin and Mary Lou. Siblings: Candy (Steve) Hanmann, Kate (Bruce) Kinjerski, Rob (Nicole) Karnopp, Dusty (Danielle) Karnopp; her in-laws: Debra (John) Horner, Gene (Pauly) Peterson. She was a cherished sister-in-law to Shelley (Jeff) Corcoran, Missy (Joe) Arndt, Phillip Iturbide, Eugene (Kathy) Iturbide, Victor (Shaney) Iturbide.

Angela will be remembered as a doting aunt to Kassie (Devin) Reed, Jake Corcoran, Phillip Iturbide, Paige Iturbide, Olivia Arndt, Madison (Jordan) Jadin, Jack Iturbide, Lydia Kinjerski, Sophie Hanmann, Lily Arndt, Bella Kinjerski, Abigail Kinjerski, Ryker Karnopp, Ainsley Karnopp, Flora Karnopp, and Vivienne Karnopp. She was also a great aunt to Kaidence, Avery, Presley, Porter, and Hayes. She was immensely proud of each one, regularly showing off the latest pictures to friends, coworkers, and family.

Angela was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was devoted to her faith. She happily wrote church bulletins and monthly newsletters, and she spent years teaching Sunday school. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She was a devoted groupie at each of Mike’s performances. Angela was a great friend to many, and her spirit, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Angela was preceded in death by her grandparents Elton and Vernis Karnopp, Jonas and Lucille Barbiaux, and her father-in-law Phill Iturbide, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
