Obituary

Betty J. Zimmer-Wegner, 82, Kewaunee WI, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at home with her family by her side. She was born to the late Archie and Myrtle (VanPay) Van Goethem on October 12, 1943. She married Marlin Zimmer on June 18, 1960, at St. Hubert Church in Sugarbush. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1982. She later married Howard Wegner on October 28, 1989, at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2020.

Betty was a woman who believed life should be enjoyed, preferably with good company, a hot cup of decaf coffee with cream, a stack of pancakes at Village Kitchen. She found joy in the simple and wonderful things in life. Polka music could always get her feet moving, and she loved to dance whenever the opportunity arose. Her kitchen was another happy place-filled with the aromas of home-cooked meals and baked treats she lovingly prepared for family and friends.

Betty had a fondness for exploring Amish auctions and bakeries, where she could admire handmade goods and bring home something sweet. She enjoyed the strength and beauty of Belgium horses and the excitement of horse pulls. Nature also held a special place in her heart. She loved tending to her garden, watching birds and squirrels outside the window, and taking peaceful boat rides whenever she could.

Betty's personality was as memorable as her interests. Her wit and colorful sayings were legendary among those who knew her. Whether she was exclaiming "Oh for the Cry-eye anyway!", urging someone along with "Giver the Liver!", laughing with "Oh good gravy!", or asking "What in all tarnation?", she had a way of making everyone around her smile. She cherished time spent with family and friends and had a gift for turning ordinary days into lasting memories.

Betty is survived by her children Julie (Rich) Taylor, Kewaunee, Jill Pribek, Kewaunee, Cathy Wegner, Green Bay, Steve (Monica) Wegner, Kewaunee, Ann (Al) Kulhanek, Luxemburg, Lynne (Al) Schilke, Denmark, Laurie (Lance) Burns, Montana; grandchildren Ryan (Megan) Pribek, Mitchell Paul, Eric (Sevana) Pribek, Matt Kulhanek, Andrea (Ben) Sohrweide, Jason (Katie) Kulhanek, Bailey (Kyle) Yaeger, Ben Burns, Elise (Nick) Herman, Frannie (Andrew) Gisi, Max (Karen) Schilke, Leah (Trent) Underwood, Mark Schilke; great grandchildren Carlene & Lyle Pribek, Zachary, Claire, Ethan, Martin, and Lilian Sohrweide, Rose, Emma, Jonathan Kulhanek, Vera and Odin Yaeger, Magdalene and Benedict Herman, Lucas Gisis; siblings Carol LeLou, Casco, Elaine Leiterman, Denmark, Ray (Jeanette) Van Goethem, Kewaunee, Diane (Vince) Delain, Green Bay; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws Pat Van Goethem, Denmark, Linda Van Goethem, Luxemburg, Al and Carolyn Zimmer, Luxemburg, Diane Zimmer, Luxemburg, Mark and Val Zimmer, Michigan; Dale Fictum (Special Friend of Carol Van Goethem); many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
