Carol M. Haasch

May 23, 1934 — April 26, 2025

Algoma

The Lord called Home his faithful servant Carol Mae Haasch on April 26th, 2025.

Carol was born May 23rd, 1934, to the late Clarence and Emily (Gigot) Baudhuin. She graduated from Algoma High School in 1952 and St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1955.

Carol married the love of her life, Keith R. Haasch on August 9th, 1958. They made their home in Algoma and raised three very special sons, Lee, Guy, and Gary Haasch.

Carol loved her nursing career. She was a registered nurse who served for 40+ years at the Algoma Hospital and Long-Term Care Center, where she finished her career as the Director of Nursing. First and foremost, she loved being a mother. She never wanted to miss a single activity for her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren whether it be a ball game, track meet, concert, school musical, recital, or an art show. Carol loved to sew. There wasn’t a pair of pants she couldn’t fix or shorten and she even made her granddaughters special dresses. Carol also loved to knit. Many of her projects were “one of a kind” sweaters for her children and grand-children. Carol was a 66-year member of the Rosary Society, many of you reading this likely have a rosary hand rolled by Carol!

She and Keith enjoyed traveling, many ski trips, trips to Arizona, Hawaii and Mexico – always bringing back trinkets, jewels, and exotic pieces for the grandchildren. Carol and Keith were active members of the YMCA in Sturgeon Bay, never missing a chance to get their swimming laps in. And she spent many years as a Cub Scout leader, earning her the prestigious Trail Blazer Award.

Carol is survived by her children Lee (Lisa) Haasch, Guy Haasch, Gary (Kathy) Haasch, grandchildren Katie Haasch, Tyler (Kirsten) Haasch, Erin (Andy) Mueller, Jenny Haasch, Trevor (Lexie) Haasch, Emily Haasch, Eric Haasch, and great-grandchildren Brooks Wagner, Junior James, Weston and Phoebe Haasch; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brothers Jim and Tom (Jenny) Baudhuin, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Keith, and she was happily welcomed into his arms where she so very much longed to be. She was further preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law Herbert and Hazel Haasch, brother and sister-in-law Clarence and Virginia Baudhuin, and sister-in-law Patricia Baudhuin, brother-in-law Richard Lohrey, niece Cindy Baudhuin and nephew Phillip Baudhuin.

Family and friends may come together to celebrate the life of Carol on Friday, May 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Algoma. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 am with Fr. Anthony Birdsall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Algoma Rescue Squad, the excellent staff at Bellin Home Health, Bellin Hospital Cardiac Ward, and Unity Hospice, and all the friends and family who offered support and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Church Heating Fund.

“Boys, when you think of me I’ll be dancing, skiing, or maybe swimming with Dad. Always remember how much we love you and are so very proud of you and your families. Until we are together again. Love, Mom & Dad”
