Chester L. Majeski, 92, of Green Bay (formerly of Casco) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7th, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
He was born on February 28th, 1920 in Krakow, WI to the late Victoria and Joseph Majeski. He is survived by Dorothy (Fameree) Majeski, his loving wife of 63 years and his six children.
Chet can be remembered by the five significant loves of his life:
His first love was for the Lord.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and supported his congregation by serving on many committees, such as President of the Cemetery Association and Lector. He instilled his faith-filled values in everything he did and everyone he touched.
His second love was for his wife and family. He married Dottie on December 28th, 1948, and together they had four daughters and two sons: Rox Ann Bowers, Orlando, Florida; Nancy (Gary) Salmon, New Franken; Joe (Jeanne) Majeski, Jacksonport; Dan Majeski, Scottsdale, Arizona; Mary (Dan) Wilcox, Orlando, Florida; and Susan (Paul) Lemens, Green Bay. Chet had 13 grandchildren: Bridget (Spencer) Traynom; Heather Bowers; Jessica (Leron) Gabriel; Danielle, Adam and Erin Salmon; Marnie (Dr. Wesley) Kasen; Marek and Alec Majeski; Ryan and Travis Wilcox; and Sydney and Jake Lemens. Chet also has two great grandchildren: Leyton Gabriel and Max Kasen.
He is preceded in death by his six brothers, Ed, Elmer, Alex, Lou, Lenard and Dr. Henry Majeski, and his two sisters, Lottie Sobonek and Alice Peterson, and survived by his in-laws Ginger, Anne and Delores Majeski, Arlene Dhuey, and Russel and Joan Fameree.
His third love was his passion for education. Chet graduated from Pulaski High School. He received his Bachelors degree from UW Plattville where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame and later served on the Alumni Association Board. He obtained his Masters degree from UW Madison. With this education base he became a dedicated Agriculture teacher and inspired the lives of many students. He then joined his brother, Dr. Henry Majeski, at the Luxemburg Clinic where he became Business Administrator until his retirement. During his retirement he continued to substitute teach, often telling stories of WWII.
His fourth love was for his country and community. Chet served with the WWII Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945 as a First Lieutenant and was a Navigator on a B-29 Bomber. He completed over 18 combat missions over the South Pacific and flew 5 mercy missions to POW camps in Korea. Throughout his life in Casco he served on multiple committee/organizations, including the Luxemburg Casco School Board, in which he was instrumental in joining the two school districts. He also was a dedicated Boy Scout leader earning the Silver Beaver Award, founding member and President of the Casco Community Housing and member of the American Legion and VFW.
Chet's love of nature was immense. Whether he was planting trees, tending to his horses, gardening with his grandchildren, or cutting flowers to give to Dottie, Chet always believed that "one is never closer to Heaven than in his own garden".
Friends may call at the Wiesner and Massart Funeral Home, Casco, Thursday, October 11th from 4-8pm. Prayer service 6p.m. Veterans service at 7p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 to 10a.m. Friday at the the Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 12th at 10:30am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Casco, with the Father Milton Suess officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery with full military rites immediately following the mass.
A fund has been established to support the Dr. Henry Majeski Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Aurora VNA Hospice.
