Cindy Sue (Severin) Zellner

March 25, 1962 — November 7, 2018

Cindy S. Zellner, 56, Kewaunee received her angel wings on November 7, 2018 following her well fought battle with cancer.  She was born in Kewaunee on March 25, 1962 to Robert and the late Corrine (Londo) Severin.  She graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1980 and was proud to be a cheerleader for the Kewaunee Indians.  Cindy had a strong work ethic and was blessed with a job she loved.  She was the Medical Records Director at Parkview Manor and Rehabilitation Center for sixteen years.

Do not cry, be happy and laugh- It’s good for you.  Those were the words Cindy stressed to her family and friends throughout her entire life.  She was a natural care giver and the glue in our family.  She was our “go to” person when we needed help no matter how busy she was. Cindy was always up for a good road trip.  She had quite a knack for rummage sales and thrift stores.  She was content with her life and said there was nothing she would change if she could.  She loved to travel with both her friends and family.  Some of her most memorable trips were with her “Posse” one in particular she talked about often was seeing the east coast in fall and eating lobster for every meal while in Maine.   Every year she traveled with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.  Experiencing Disney with them was a memory that will be remembered forever.

Cindy loved her family and was very proud of her daughter and grandchildren.  She cherished all family gatherings and always looked forward to spending time with them.  Cindy had a zest for living that was reflected by the way she spent her time, and the laughter she brought into our lives.  She always knew how to make everyone laugh and act goofy; she had many pictures to prove that.  She always had her camera with her!  Cindy also loved to cook and bake.  Christmas was her favorite and every year baked 400-500 cutout cookies from scratch and started the “Cookie Day” tradition in her family.

Cindy is survived by her loving daughter Jessica (Zellner) Thor, son-in-law Jason and grandchildren Hayden and Scarlett; her father Robert “Sub” Severin, all of Kewaunee; her siblings Kelli (Merlin) Obry, Kewaunee; Kim (Norbert) Smidel, Two Rivers and Mike (Mary) Severin, Manitowoc.  Along with her ex-spouse Tim Zellner of Sturgeon Bay, nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends.  Cindy was welcomed into heaven by the arms of her mother Corrine Severin, her sister Julie Severin, special aunts and uncles.

Family and friends may visit Buchanan Funeral Home in Kewaunee from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15th with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Friday, November 16th from 10:00-11:00 a.m at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kewaunee.  Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m.

Cindy’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to those who have helped and supported Cindy throughout her life; special thanks to both Kevin and Wayne.   Along with the doctors and nurses at Aurora Hospital, the entire Aurora Cancer team and Dr. Marcus Steele for the compassionate care they provided for Cindy.

Cindy's final act of kindness was to give through organ and tissue donation.  Cindy was able to donate her corneas to help restore sight for 1-2 recipients.  She was a treasure that will be sadly missed in this world, but will surely shine with heaven.
