Clarence (Butch) Kwasny Jr., age 77, of Kewaunee, passed away peacefully at Atrium of Kewaunee on Saturday, August 11, 2018. He was born to the late Clarence and Dorothy (Coppersmith) Kwasny on July 19, 1941.

He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1959. He then entered the U.S. Army in November of 1963, and served his country until he was discharged in October of 1969. Butch was even named Soldier of the Month in September of 1965 at Fort Richardson, Alaska. For most of his career, Butch worked at Kewaunee Engineering as a welding supervisor. On April 29, 1967, he married Carol Price at Holy Rosary Church in New Holstein, WI.

Butch enjoyed sports, especially baseball, football and bowling. He also loved watching his  children play sports, and he kept up with local high school sports even after they graduated. Butch was well-known for his sense of humor. He really enjoyed making people smile.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol; three sons, Brian of Merrill, WI; Brad (special friend, Amy Zaydel) of Grafton, WI; and Todd (Judy) of Oshkosh, WI. Butch adored his four grandchildren, Dakota, Anika, Taylor and Sarah Kwasny. He is survived by two brothers, Larry “Red” (Shirley) Kwasny and Lloyd “Mouse” (Carol) Kwasny; and three sisters, Betty Gretz; Shirley (Dan) Brusky; and Marilyn (John) Wiegert. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Michael Price and Jeff (Christine) Price; one sister-in-law, Sandy Kwasny; many nieces and nephews; and a very special family friend, Shawna Schwalenberg.

Butch was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kelly; three brothers, Clifford (Ellie) Kwasny; Lawrence (Pat) Kwasny, and David Kwasny; two sisters, Mary (Frank) Fiala and Carol Zastrow; and one brother-in-law, Bernard Gretz.

Friends may call at Buchanan Funeral Home in Kewaunee on Friday, August 24, from 3:00-6:00 p.m., with a memorial service by Deacon Chuck Agnew at 6:00. Burial to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Unity Hospice, especially Heather and Jenny; and Atrium of Kewaunee, especially Patty and Austin, for taking such good care of Butch. We know he could be a “challenging” resident. We’d also like to thank the neighbors who have helped us so much during Butch’s illness.
