Obituary

David J. “Grosy” Grosbeier, age 60, formerly of Casco, made his way to heaven on Monday, November 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born on March 15, 1965, to Wayne and Sharon (DeKeyser) Grosbeier.

Dave graduated from Algoma High School, Class of 1983. Following graduation, he was employed by his dad in the family business as a tow truck operator and auto technician. Later, he started Dave’s Casco Service. When he lost his daughter, Savannah, he closed his shop in Casco and went to work as a service writer at Boettcher’s in Sturgeon Bay. As his MS progressed, he returned to Grosbeier Auto and Towing until he was unable to continue work.

Dave enjoyed serving as a volunteer for the Casco Fire Department. He loved the outdoors, camping at Quiet Woods South and deer hunting at Frankie’s shack and hunting and playing cards with his dad and brothers at the family cabin.

His children were his pride and joy. He was so proud of them. Dave was so happy when his grandchildren were born and now, he would be “Grandpa Dave.” Dave was known for his hard work and dedication to his family and his quick sense of humor. No matter what Dave had to deal with, he never gave up and always had a smile and a kind word for you. He lived at Cherry Cove Assisted Living in Sturgeon Bay for the past several years and the staff enjoyed having Dave as a resident. They called him, “Mr. David.”

Dave’s survivors include his daughters, Micaela (Forest) Jacobs, Sturgeon Bay and Shianne (Tony) VanDeurzen, Luxemburg, and the mother of his children, Patty Grosbeier, Sturgeon Bay; as well as his grandchildren, Gavin, Jaxson, Brynn, and Max Jacobs. He is also survived by his parents, Wayne and Sharon Grosbeier, Algoma; brothers, Mark (Karen) of Algoma, Tom (April) of Brussels; and his sister, Melanie (Kevin) Magle of Brillion; nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Janice Vandermause.

He was preceded in death by his son, Justin; his daughter, Savannah; his nephew, Nate Grosbeier; and his maternal and paternal grandparents; Uncle Tony, and Uncle Joe.

“Though they are no longer with us, the memories of our loved ones live on in our hearts forever.”

Special thanks to Danielle and Crystal from Compassus, Unity Hospice, and the staff at Cherry Cove Assisted Living in Sturgeon Bay, for taking such good care of him and, also for being not only his caregivers, but for your friendship and love as well.

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Casco with a funeral service at 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Hubert’s Cemetery. Online condolences can be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
