Doris Ann Massart, 88, of Rosiere passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025. She was born on February 16, 1937, to the late William and Doris (Hoffman) Havel. She married Joseph Massart on October 4, 1958, at St. Hubert's in Rosiere, he preceded her in death on April 10, 2018.
Doris dedicated over two decades of her life as a caring nurse at St. Vincent Hospital, after a fulfilling five years at Algoma Nursing Home. Her compassion in caring for others spilled over into her roles as a loving wife and passionate farmer, where she spent most of her life working alongside her husband Joseph, nurturing both their land and family. Cooking and baking were passions for Doris. In addition, she also loved her trips, to North Star Casino, where she enjoyed the thrill of gambling, and many bus trips all over. But she really loved to get out on the road and drive herself around.
Doris is survived by her children, Christine Kroening, Michael (Debbie) Massart, Daniel (Diane) Massart, and Jane (John) Fenske; special family friends, Darrell & Lori Waller; grandchildren, Angela (Kevin) Gilbert, Coty (Angela) Kroening, Logan (Molly) Kroening, Amber Rentmeester, Mandie (Chris) La Brec, Adam (fiancé Tasha) Massart, Matthew Massart, Erin (Kyle) Lemens, Joshua (fiancé Christina) Fenske, and Eric (Mykayla) Fenske; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Wendy Walter; brother-in-law, Mark Lohrey, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ruth Simon, Charles (Marilyn) Massart, Mark Massart, Mag Havel, Kathleen (Don) Leurquin. Her goddaughters, Lisa Knutson, and Linda Salzsieder; as well as by nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her son Joey Massart; parents, Bill and Doris Havel; sister, Donna Lohrey; brother-in-law, Donald Walters; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Emily Massart; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jennie (Bill) Merline, Cletus Simon, Cletus Havel, and Marge Massart; son-in-law Randy Kroening; and nephew, James Walter.
Visitation will take place at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services, Casco, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 4-7 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 8:30-10:30 am at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Rosiere, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Fr. Dennis Drury officiating.
