Dorothy A. (Lesperance) Stodola

August 16, 1917 — January 10, 2018

Dorothy Agnes (Lesperance) Stodola, passed away on January 10, 2018 at the age of 100. Dorothy was born on August 16, 1917 in Coleman Wisconsin, the second child of eighteen to the late George and Mary (Paremski) Lesperance. At the age of eighteen her father took her to Green Bay to find work as a live in maid, after several tries (she was small in stature) she secured a position with the Taylor's, a prominent family. A train ride back home with a box of Holloway candy always accompanied her, to the delight of her younger siblings waiting for her at the station. She married J. Edwin Stodola on June 12, 1948 at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in ColemanWisconsin. Together they owned and operated the Culligan Franchise for Kewaunee County, and the Maytag Laundromat in Kewaunee. They had a marriage of 25 years. Edwin proceeded her in death on October 15, 1994. Dorothy was a member of the Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee, a member of the Holy Rosary Society, a Life time member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Robinson American Legion Auxiliary, the Catholic Knight Society, Sheepshead Marathon, along with the Senior Center Card Club. As a member of the Rosary Society she headed many of the meals for funerals, and helped with the annual church dinners. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and donated over 17 gallons of blood and delivered meals on wheels. She retired from Vollrath after 13 years. She loved playing cards and traveling, including trips to Europe, Australia and the Holy Lands. She also spent many hours visiting with patrons of the Laundromat.

Survived by: Her children, Thomas (Jeanette), Algoma, Jean (Otto) Robinson Jr., Kewaunee, Daniel (Yvonne), Manitowoc and Steven (Skizzy), Kewaunee. She is further survived by grandchildren, Pamela (Scott) Browne, and their children Kadin, Colton and Kembra, Linda (Jody) Vandertie and their children Miranda and Miryssa, and Christopher (Rebecca) Robinson and their children, Kemper and Chyanne, all  of Kewaunee. Her brother Bernard (Pat) Lesperance, Coleman, sisters, Joyce (Ralph) Seewald, Lena, Betty Jane Lesperance, Peshtigo, Violet Kowalczyk, Lena, Marie Boulanger, Two Rivers, Carol (Lyle)  Ausloos and Marlene Kortbein, Menominee Falls, and Janice (Gale) Wogsland, Pound, brother-in-law John Goetz, Oconto, sister-in-law Joan Lesperance Two Rivers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by: Edwin, daughter Mary Ellen, her parents, brother, Lester (Evelyn) Lesperance (Saucier), Leonard (Sylvia) (Grimm) Lesperance, Clement, Francis and Donald Lesperance, sisters Lorraine (Carl) Hetue, Bernice Shallow (Goetz), Joan and Shirley Lesperance Brother-in-laws,  Francis Shallow, Thomas Kowalczyk, Camille Boulanger. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Mary Stodola, brothers-in-law Elmer (Margie) Stodola, Otto (Emily) Stodola and Joey Stodola, sisters-in-laws Viola (Joseph Wanek) (Frank) Havlinek, Elsie (Otto) Karman, Olive (Fred) Lory and Bessie (Martin) Brezinski.

Dorothy's family will be forever grateful to the staff of Atrium Acute Care of Kewaunee for the excellent care she received while a resident. Marie Boulanger for the many visits, and Lyle, Carol, and Marlene for the annual fall trips to Door County. Finally, a special Thank You to all the staff at Aurora Medical Center and Aurora At Home Hospice who took care of Mom, making her final journey free of pain, stress  and showing great compassion to her and her family.

Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13 at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee until the time of services.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. Peter Stryker.   Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
