Edith M. (Roggenbau) Richard

Edith M. Richard, age 91 of Kewaunee died on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay.  She was born on January 1, 1927 in Zedlin, Greifenberg County, Pommern, Germany to the late Franz and Ida (Hitz) Roggenbau.

On July 9, 1956 Edith moved to the United States and on August 11, 1956 she married George A. Richard Jr. At St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Carlton.  He preceded her in death on April 29, 2001.

She was a longtime active member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Kewaunee and the Ladies Aid of the church, and past member of the Altar Guild.  For most of her life she was a housewife and loving mother.  In her later years she worked part time as a cook and also a greeter at Walmart.

Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, cooking, baking, sewing, knitting and crocheting.  She enjoyed being with her family, including watching her children and grandchildren participate in organized activities. She also enjoyed babysitting all of her grandchildren when they were young, and was just getting to know her great grandchildren.

Survivors include her three children: Katherine Kellner, Baltimore, MD; Christian ( Tammy) Richard; Louis (Kristen) Richard, both of Kewaunee; six grandchildren: Eric (Christina) Richard, Bel Air, MD; Alexandria Richard; Austin Richard; Andrew Richard; Dana Richard and Wyatt Richard, all of Kewaunee; two great grandchildren: Victoria and Evan Richard.  She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Walter Kellner.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 1000 Wisconsin Ave. Kewaunee until the time of services.  The funeral service will be at 3:00p.m. with Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating.  Private committal services will be held at Riverview Cemetery on Monday.

The family would like to thank the Kewaunee Police Department, Kewaunee Rescue and the caring staff of Bellin Hospital for the care and concern that they provided Edith and her family.  A special thanks to Rev. Michael Sullivan for his comforting words and reassurance that we will see Edith once again.  To God be the Glory!
