Edward J. Koss

Edward J. Koss, age 84 of Kewaunee died on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. He was born in Casco on January 27, 1933 to the late Edward J. and Helen M. (Fencil) Koss.

He graduated from Casco High School in 1951. Edward married Lois Hanmann on November 9, 1957 and she preceded him in death on June 6, 1986.

Edward and Lois operated a farm in Rio Creek. He was also a part-time postal carrier, milk truck driver, and a field foreman for a canning company. After operating the farm for several years, he became the supervisor of the Kewaunee County Farm at Alaska, WI until it was closed. He then was employed as a custodian and maintenance engineer by the Kewaunee School District until retiring in 1998.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also had many hobbies which included woodworking, gardening, quilting with his daughter, Kim, and card playing. He was a jack-of-all trades, who could fix anything that was broke. He enjoyed eating and spending time at Kunkel’s Korner Restaurant. He was an avid listener to polkas on radio station WAUN.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law: Ann Gutoski; Jill and Todd Groth; three grandsons: Steve Gutoski, Joshua and Levi Groth; two granddaughters: Stacey Gutoski (Brad), Krista Groth; two Godsons: Chad Pavlat; Richard Mastalir; brother and sisters: Robert (Barb) Koss, Patricia Mastalir, Sr. Annette Koss; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: William (Gail) Hanmann, Wayne Pavlat, Fay (Ronald) Prodell, Eileen Hanmann. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Koss; daughter, Kim Koss; son-in-law, Steven Gutoski; parents, Edward and Helen Koss; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Walter and Eleanora Hanmann; sisters: Elaine (Dale) Jourdan, Mary (Bob) Selner, Kathleen (Jack) Voyles; sisters-in-law: Mildred Koss and Anna May Pavlat; brothers-in-law: Joe Mastalir, Walter Hanmann Jr.

Family and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish, Kewaunee. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Dcn. Chuck Agnew officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
