Elizabeth (LaCourt) Allen

August 25, 1915 — January 27, 2017

Elizabeth Allen , 101, Algoma passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017. She was born to the late Joseph and Sadonia (Heurion) LaCourt on August 25, 1915, in the Town of Little River, Oconto County.

She graduated from Oconto High School in 1933 and then went to Hibbing, Minnesota to live with her sister. She moved to Oconto Falls in 1935, and later took business courses at Oconto Falls High School. She worked at Falls Paper and Power Company and was secretary at Midland co-op and Beam Chemical Company. She lived there 23 years.

She married Allie Robert Allen on December 26, 1945 at the Grace Lutheran parsonage in Green Bay. The family moved to Algoma in 1963.

Her husband passed away on February 2, 1968. She was secretary at Algoma Elementary School for 17 years and retired in 1986. Elizabeth was a member of the United Methodist Church and was financial secretary for 14 years and coordinated the newsletter for 16 years.

She is survived by one son, Larry Allen, Algoma, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Fred Ohswaldt of Nashotah, three sisters, her twin sister Margaret (Camille Bero) of Menominee, Michigan; Evelyn MacMiller, Encino Calif; and Mildred Bero, Menominee, MI. and 6 brothers, Wesley, Russell, and Ellis of Milwaukee and Francis, Erol and Clarence of Oconto.

Friends and relatives may visit Algoma United Methodist Church on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Pat Knutson officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Oconto.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Algoma United Methodist Church.
