Gloria Urban

Gloria A. Urban, 92, Kewaunee, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. She was born on November 1, 1931, to the late Joseph Sr. & Emma (Wery) LaCrosse. On December 29, 1956, she married the love of her life, Roger F. Urban. Together they spent 50 years together before his passing on January 24, 2007.

Gloria was the oldest of 9 children. Considered a second mother to the youngest siblings. After a brief period of employment outside the home Gloria settled in to being a loving wife and devoted mother. As a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, and tending her flower beds. She loved to can and freeze fresh from her garden, and made bread and rolls from scratch weekly. She liked to crochet (gifting many with her blankets) she also enjoyed sewing. She loved collecting angels (having more than 150 different types and sizes), as well as collecting salt & pepper shakers (with more than 200 sets). She was a very active member of her parish St. Joseph's Norman (Now St. Isidore the Farmer). She taught religious education there for many years and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed taking regular trips and worshiping at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion. Later in life she continued being active by volunteering at the Kewaunee Nursing Home (where her husband resided), the Kewaunee Jail Museum, and the Kewaunee Chamber. Above all - she loved her family. She loved being part of a big family and spending time together with her siblings and extended family. She was happy that she raised two wonderful adopted children and was proud of their accomplishments. The love and pride she felt for her grandsons was evident in her smile whenever she talked about them. Her strong faith sustained her throughout her life and provided much comfort in the end.

Gloria is survived by her children, Michael J. (Cheryl) Urban, Kewaunee, Michelle (Jeffrey) Blackbourn, New Berlin; grandchildren, Justin (Kaylin) Urban, Kewaunee, Austin Urban, Kewaunee, Prestin (special friend Alexys Gaedtke) Urban, Luxemburg, Jeremy (special friend Sabina Redzic) Blackbourn, Oak Creek, Brandon (special friend Ella Graham) Blackbourn, New Berlin; brothers, Stanley (Joyce) LaCrosse, Kewaunee, Sidney (Fran) LaCrosse, Kewaunee, Joseph Jr (Helen) LaCrosse, Kewaunee; sisters, Carol Cravillion, Casco, Theresa (Kenny) Ledvina, Luxemburg; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ron Schleis, Kewaunee, Leonard Smidel, Luxemburg, and LaVerne Johnson, Manitowoc.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Urban; her parents, Joseph Sr. and Emma LaCrosse; her in-laws, Michael and Ella Urban; sisters, Shirley LaCrosse, Kewaunee, Jacqueline Smidel, Luxemburg, Judith Schleis, Kewaunee; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Richard (Barb) Urban, Cedar Rapids, IA, Bernard Cravillion, Casco, Wayne Johnson, Manitowoc, and Lorraine (Robert) Skarvan, Manitowoc.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services - Kewaunee with a prayer service at 7:00 pm with Christal Wavrunek. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:45 am at St. Isidore the Farmer - Tisch Mills. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am with Fr. Dennis Drury officiating.
