Gregory J. Suess, 69, Algoma, passed away on June 17, 2025. He was born on December 17, 1955, to the late Joseph and Barbara (Kennig) Suess.
Greg was an extremely old-fashioned man, seldom used a telephone, avoided banks, and never replaced anything that wasn't truly broken. He grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Antigo in a little town called Birnumwood, where for years he loved helping his dad run the family farm. When circumstances forced them to move on, and continue their lives in Green Bay, he never lost his desire to become a farmer someday. As a young man he took numerous jobs on farms in the neighborhood, always planting, and milking, feeding, and cleaning. He realized if he wanted a family he'd need a real job, so he worked as a machinist for most of his adult years, while always raising a few steers, turkeys, chickens, and more on his time at home. When it finally came time for retirement Greg bought an old farmhouse on the outskirts of Algoma to continue his dream. He'd finally made it, he loved this new life. But, unfortunately… things don't always last as long as we'd hope. Greg died a happy man. He left behind and loving family, his steers and horses, chickens and guinea hens, cats, dogs, and a message for us all to never give up on our dreams.
Greg is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Nicole Suess, Ashley (Brian) Beal; step-children, Michael (Melanie) LaRock, Carrie Campbell, and Kevin (Kari) Campbell; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Arianna, Makayla, Jordyn, and Xavier; sisters, Dorothy (David) Zorzin, Linda Swagel, Brenda (Mike) Skinkis; as well as by many nieces, nephews, other friends, and family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dora (Paul) Bomber; and brother-in-law, Dave Swagel.
Per the families wishes no services will be held for Greg. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Algoma, is assisting the family. Online condolence messages may be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
