Helen Berg, age 99, of Kewaunee, passed away on June 16, 2026, at Kewaunee Health Services. She was born November 17, 1926, in the town of Mishicot to the late Frank and Anna (Hanek) Barta.
Helen was the sweetest, most loving person anyone could have known. She enjoyed being a home maker and farm wife with her late husband Gerald H Berg Sr. Their farm was located in West Kewaunee where they raised their two children. When the time was right, they retired from farming but continued to live in West Kewaunee where she loved doing her gardening, bird watching, and baking. She adored the frequent visits from the 3 grandchildren and always had her famous peanut-butter cookies waiting in the cookie jar. Every so often, she also enjoyed a short visit to the casino with her daughter, and lunch afterwords, meaning she wouldn't have to cook or do dishes. When the great grandchildren entered the picture, it was a complete joy to see her face light up when they entered the room. She cherished the visits from them over the years and enjoyed watching them grow up.
Survivors include one daughter, Arlene Berg, Kewaunee; one daughter-in-law, Jean Berg, Kewaunee; three grandchildren, Craig (Annie) Berg, Kelly (Kelly Kowaleski) Berg, Tina (Dennis Mischler) Vlies; four great grandchildren, Alyssa (Adam Pennings) Berg, Ashley (Nathan VanGoethem) Berg, Coy and Sara Vlies; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Berg Sr; son, Gerald Berg Jr; brother and sister-In-Law Raymond and Betty Barta; sister and brother-In-Law Eleanor and George Demell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Eunice and Frank Cisler.
Friends and family may call from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services, Kewaunee. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. with Christal Wavrunek officiating. Entombment to follow at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Online condolences can be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
The family would like to thank the care givers at Linden Manor and Kewaunee Health Services for the care, kindness, and love given to Helen over the last few years.
