Obituary

Helen Mae Clinton, 95, passed away peacefully Sunday May 10th, 2026. She was born on January 14th, 1931, in Sparta Wisconsin. Helen was the only child of Henry and Grace Kenyon, her loving and devoted parents. Always a hard worker, Helen babysat, cleaned homes, and helped at home. She spent her days reading, playing quietly, and dreaming of becoming a teacher. Her dream became a reality when she graduated from Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin in 1948 and attended the Racine-Kenosha Rural Normal School in Union Grove, Wisconsin, graduating in 1950. She began teaching at Pleasant View School, a one-room school, with 45 students ranging from first through eighth grades. Helen taught at another one room school (Sunnyside), and several elementary schools in Racine Unified School district and retired in 1990. During her teaching career Helen earned a Bachelors from Carthage College. She, and her husband Don, moved to Kewaunee, Wisconsin, and loved living in a small town with her daughters and grandchildren.

Helen and Don were active in the Kewaunee Senior Center and Helen was a central figure in planning parties and events, decorating the tables and bulletin boards for every season and holiday. She sang in the Golden Tones and was in most of the silly skits performed. Helen was a volunteer in many capacities. She taught Sunday School at the Community Congregational Church and was the craft lady for Vacation Bible School for years. She was a tutor for multiple individuals and maintained those relationships long afterward. Helen and 11 of her friends began a sewing club in 1947 and continued to meet monthly for over 60 years.

Helen volunteered at many organizations; The Kewaunee County Jail Museum, the Kewaunee Chamber, East Shore Industries, Special Olympics, HCE, and the ADRC. Helen sewed book bags for the HCE for twenty years and was featured on Channel 5 Positively Wisconsin.

Anyone who knew Helen discovered she was a kind-hearted woman who was always willing to help. She never wanted to be in the limelight and did not call attention to herself. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandma.

Helen is survived by her children: Cindy Tang (Joe Grant), Kewaunee; Jenn (Gordie) Krogh, Kewaunee. Grandchildren: Thomas (Brooke) Mathias, Verona; Matt (Ivy) Tang, Madison; Nate (Sammy Frisbie- Krogh), Minneapolis, MN; Ben (Grace) Krogh, Oregon City, OR; Joel (Jodi) Krogh, Kewaunee; Ying (Hale) Wang, Naperville, IL. Great- grandchildren; Madeleine Tang, Evelyn, Florence and Desmond Krogh, Hazel Frisbie-Krogh, and Waylon Wang.

Helen was blessed with wonderful stepchildren; Vickie and Rick LaRue, Ron and Monica Clinton, Todd and Sherrie Clinton. Grandchildren; Rick (Laurel) LaRue, Justin Stacey, Nicki (Dan) Bladorn, and Daniel Clinton. Great grandchildren; Ella Bladorn, Abby and Evelyn Stacey.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Grace Kenyon; husband, Donald Clinton; and son, Michael John Mathias.

A visitation will take place Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at Community Congregational Church in Kewaunee with a service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be served following the service.
