Herbert Heinz Timm

June 19, 1927 — October 19, 2019

Herbert Heinz Timm, Town of West Kewaunee, passed away on October 19, 2019 at the age of 92.

Herbert was born on June 19, 1927 in Kewaunee, Wisconsin to the late Herman & Charlotte Laabs Timm. Herbert is survived by loving family and friends, including his wife of 56 years Elvera; son Philip (Colleen) Timm; son Nathanael Addison (Kirk Critton); son Aaron Timm; daughter Miriam (Ben) Brown; three grandsons Adam Timm, Samuel Timm, and Dylan Brown; and sister Betty (Art) Timm and her family.

Herbert graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1945.  He married Elvera Krueger on August 25, 1963. He was firm in his faith and lived his generous spirit by teaching Sunday School and through his service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kewaunee and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Algoma. Herbert shared his voice singing at weddings and church events, often accompanied by his wife Elvera. Together, they served as missionaries and teachers in the Pacific Northwest, American Southwest, and the Northeast.

Herbert was a dedicated husband and father, a lifelong farmer, and an artist. He was a dairy farmer who cared deeply for animals; his family shares memories of Herbie walking through fields with pets at his side. He expressed his creative energy by making soft sculptured animals and dolls he sold in Door County, eventually opening his own toy store in Kewaunee and running it for several years. Later in life, Herbert transitioned the family farm from dairy cows to plants and produce, which he shared at farmers markets in Two Rivers, Appleton, and Green Bay. He left behind a large collection of colorings that he created in his later years.

Herbert enjoyed six years of his life at Linden Manor in Kewaunee and built lasting friendships with both the residents and staff. His wit, his smile, and his appreciation of simple pleasures will be fondly remembered there. Herbie always wore a smile, was quick to welcome people, and was happy to share the experiences of his long and interesting life.
