James Schutz

Jim Schutz, 56, passed away suddenly on Friday March 29, 2024. He was "a true gentleman who had a burly look that could intimidate some, but had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone, if asked."

Jim was a proud graduate of Pittsville High School and followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a truck driver. He served his community as a member of the Pittsville Fire Dept. retiring with the rank of lieutenant after 15 years of service.

An old soul and a cowboy at heart, he attended the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School and did farrier work. Jim loved classic country music, old westerns, working with horses, and John Wayne.

Jim was a charter member of the Black River Falls HOG chapter and eventually served as its Director. It was at a State HOG Rally that he met his wife. Sharing their love of motorcycles, together they taught the Basic Motorcycle Riders Course for many years.

Jim was a kind, loving, and supportive husband. He never told his wife, "no" and allowed her to follow her dreams wherever those dreams took them. He loved his two boys and enjoyed watching them play football, wrestle, and sharing in their adventures as they grew into adulthood.

Jim is preceded in death by his father Larry Schutz and the family's dog Jax. His legacy and memory live on through his wife of 23 years, Jo-Ellen Fairbanks- Schutz; his sons, AJ and Sam; his mother, Mabel (Riggs) Schutz, his brothers, Billy Schutz and Larry Schutz Jr. and all the friends he made throughout the different chapters of his life.
