John E. Tess

John Edward Tess, 62, Kewaunee, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. He was born on March 18, 1961, to the late Ervin and Shirley (Summerfield) Tess. On June 1, 1985, he married Ann Shefchek at Holy Rosary Church in Kewaunee. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his family. He helped build a wonderful life for them through his work at Hamacheks, Fluid Systems, and Lands of Wisconsin, where he was held in high esteem. He served his community by holding leadership positions at Immanuel Lutheran Church and on the Kewaunee School Board. He enjoyed a great many things, especially tinkering in his shop, visiting supper clubs, and keeping up the grounds around his country home where he lived most of his life. He was as gentle and comforting in his passing as he was in his prime, and will be remembered for the ever-present feeling of peace he gifted to everyone near to him.

John is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Tess; children, Derek (Laura) Tess, De Pere, Jacob (partner Brooke Hartmann) Tess, De Pere, Taylor (partner JJ Kaiser) Tess, Milwaukee; grandchildren, Kennedy Tess, and James Tess; brothers, Gary (Amy) Tess, and Paul (Netty) Tess; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gregg Waegli, Becky (Mark) Chaudoir, Vicky (Dick) Romsos, Brenda (Warren) Swintosky, Lisa (Jim) Schaller, Jim (Sandy) Shefchek, Mike (Cheryl) Shefchek, Kathryn Shefchek, Paul Shefchek, Amy Pearson, and Jennifer Tess; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Shirley Tess, brothers, Alan Tess and Dale Tess; sister, Jean Waegli; father- and mother-in-law, James and Gail Shefchek.

Visitation will take place at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Kewaunee, from 4:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, June 11, 2023, with a prayer service at 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue Monday, June 12, 2023, from 9:30-11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Matthew Sprunger officiating.
