Joyce A. Kalchek, age 89 of Kewaunee died on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Odd Fellows Rehab Center. She was born on July 26, 1931 in New London, WI to the late George and Bertha (Hermenith) Roloff. She graduated from New London High School in 1950.
In 1953 she went to Kewaunee to work at Leyse Aluminum Co. Where she met her husband David Kalchek, on the first day of work. They were married January 30, 1954 in New London and he preceded her in death on November 23, 2004. After her children were growen up, she went back to work at Leyse Aluminum Co, which was sold to General Housewares and then to Vollrath Co. from which she and her husband retired on July 6, 1995. She liked going to rummage sales and just riding around the country.
She as a lifelong member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church of Kewaunee.
She is survived by two children: Randy Kalchek, Kewaunee; Shelley Woodburn, Milford, OH; three grandchildren: Amanda Downs, David Woodburn, Andrea Woodburn; five great grandchildren: two sisters-in-law: Mary Hensey and Lois Schucknacht. She was preceded in death by one son: David J. (Butch) Kalchek; one brother: Howard Roloff, her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Joseph and Myrtle Kalchek; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Friends may call at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23 until the time of services. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by Pastor Matthew Sprunger of Immanuel Lutheran Church. A grave side service will be held on Monday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to thankthe nurses at Aurora Memorial Hospital, Aurora Hospice and the nurses at Odd Fellows Rehab Center for the care and concern that they gave Joyce and her family.
