Lorraine A. Riemer, Age 85, passed away at her home in Montpelier on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 15, 1938, to Hilda (Fischer) and Kenneth Tegen. Lorraine graduated from Kewaunee High School with the class of 1956. She married Robert Riemer on August 26, 1961, at the West Kewaunee United Methodist Church. Lorraine and Robert took over the family farm from her parents in 1972 and they ran the farm until 2001. Lorraine worked for Kewaunee County for 23 years and served first as The Register of Probate and then the Kewaunee County Clerk of Courts before retiring in 2007.
Lorraine was a life-long member of the West Kewaunee United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and served on many church committees during that time. Lorraine enjoyed working in her flower garden and spent many hours tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren often babysitting them while mom and dad were away. They were very special to her, and she is very special to them. She enjoyed baking and was especially known for her kolaches. Lorraine's dinner table was always full however, there was always room and enough food for anyone who showed up at dinner time.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Robert, one sister, Dorothy Genz, and five children: Clark Riemer, Kewaunee, Lora (Rob) Malcore, Luxemburg, Allen (fiancé' Lisa Kell) Riemer, Luxemburg, Sarah (Matt) Demmin Kewaunee, and David (Laura) Riemer, Kewaunee. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Kenny and Katie Riemer, Melinda (Nick) Kimber, Amanda (Jay) Metz, Marissa (Jerrod) Jossart, Alexis (significant-other Jordan Grissman) Riemer, Madison Riemer, Logan Riemer, Madelyn Demmin, Ryan Demmin, Brianna Demmin, Margaret Riemer and Tucker Riemer. Lorraine had eight great-grandchildren: Emma and Izzy Kimber, Aubrey, Jase and Harper Metz, Millie, Ella, and Norah Jossart.
Lorraine is also survived by two daughters-in-law: Lisa Riemer and Mollie Riemer
Lorraine is survived by her brother-in-law Carl (Sally) Riemer, and six sisters-in-laws: Barb Riemer, Cherie Riemer, Emogene Riemer, Nancy Wonderlick, Carolyn Green, and Mary Jane (Gary) Wilcox.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Hilda and Kenneth Tegen, and three brothers-in-laws Eugene Riemer, Thomas Riemer, and Jack Wonderlick.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Kinnard Funeral Home, Kewaunee, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning, April 6, from 10:00 to 11:00 am with funeral service at 11:00 am at West Kewaunee United Methodist Church, with Pastor Laura Riemer officiating. The family would like to thank Vernie and Maynard Ihlenfeldt for all the special care provided to Lorraine over the years and especially during her battle with cancer. Your care and assistance meant the world to her and her family. Thank you to all who sent flowers, cards, letters, and provided food during her illness. The family would also like to thank the West Kewaunee United Methodist Church Family, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Bellin Health's Cancer Team, and Unity Hospice for all the care provided to Lorraine.
