Lorraine E (Nowicki) Sevcik

d. December 23, 2017

Lorraine E. Sevcik, 99, passed on to eternal life December 22, 2017. She was in the company and hearts of family and friends, near and far, who loved her dearly and will miss her forever. Lorraine dispensed love, gratitude, keen stories and wise sayings until the very end.

Lorraine was born August 8, 1918 in the Town of Eaton, Wis, the youngest of 11 children of Stanley and Elizabeth (Krupa) Nowicki. She graduated from West Allis High in 1936. Later that year she met John Sevcik at her sister's wedding and their shared marriage of 60 years began November 18, 1939. Lorraine was a true and loyal partner to John until his death in 1999. They farmed the family homestead in Kewaunee, raised 6 children and enjoyed family dinners, dancing, playing cards and traveling.

Lorraine was an excellent cook, baker, seamstress and gardener. She was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Parish and lived her faith. She was President of the Rosary Society, a 4-H leader and county fair church stand coordinator. In retirement she taught microwave cooking, started a quilting club to make blankets for shelters and initiated bi-annual bake sales to raise money for the church school. She designed the church kitchen and 30 years later led the drive to remodel it. Lorraine took the lead on funeral dinners, a prayer group and whatever else was asked of her until an accident curtailed her activities at age 94. Her family treasured the time after her accident, getting to hear her many stories and wise sayings.

She spent her life providing unending love and support to her husband, 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grands. Lorraine made each child feel they were a blessing and her most treasured favorite. She was an avid letter writer, corresponding with extended family to keep everyone close.

Lorraine is survived by 5 children: Janine (Harry) Watts, Barnes; Mike (Jean) Sevcik, Kewaunee; Mary Kennedy, Louisville, CO; Steve (Sue) Sevcik, Kewaunee; and Rita (Dave) Kelliher, Madison; Grandchildren: Renee Watts; Michelle (Luke) Bienfang; Jason Helps; Danny and Andrea Sevcik; Chris (Roxanne) Knight; Suzi Sevcik (Kelly Rortvedt); Jesse (Victoria) Sevcik; Matt and Brian Kennedy; Larissa, Andy, Saul and Leah Sevcik and 10 great-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son John (1997); husband (1999); 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 521 Juneau St, Kewaunee with her Godson Fr. Bob Rank.  Visitation is at the church from 9:30 to 11 am.

We want to thank the many women who made a long life livable with their committed care and the wonderful staff at Linden Manor. Thank you to those who brightened Lorraine's life with a phone call, card, visit, kind deed or prayer. She appreciated every one of you.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to send / tell us something special you remember her by that we can share with her grandchildren and great grands.

Rest in peace, dear mom. You're an angel now.
