Margaret A. "Margie" Lychwick, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 11, 2026, at Silverstone Memory Care in Appleton.
She was born on January 19, 1946, in Milwaukee, WI to the late William and Margaret (Prebilich) Wachal. Margie graduated from Nathan Hale High School in West Allis in 1964 and went on to earn her degree from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. It was in 1965 that she and Terry Lychwick started dating while working together at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee. Their relationship blossomed and the couple was married on August 23, 1969, at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in West Allis.
Margie devoted 35 years of her life to full-time teaching. 32 of those 35 years were with the Luxemburg-Casco School District making a lasting impact as both a middle school level Physical Education teacher and Math teacher. Throughout her career, she was passionate about helping students grow—encouraging them to stay active, build confidence, and believe in their abilities both in the classroom and beyond. In addition to teaching, Margie coached middle school track and field and worked as a swim instructor, sharing her enthusiasm for athletics with countless students. She was a strong advocate for student health through her involvement with Jump Rope for Heart. For many years, Margie served as one of the lead negotiators for the L-C/WEA Teachers Union, always standing up for her colleagues and community.
Outside of her career, Margie embraced life’s simple joys. She loved embroidery, sewing, and crafting. She especially enjoyed gambling trips to Las Vegas with friends and family. Summers were often spent swimming and sunbathing by her pool, and quiet evenings frequently included watching movies, especially her favorite Hallmark films. She was also a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers. More than anything, Margie treasured time spent with her family. Her greatest pride and happiness came from being with her grandchildren and sharing in their lives. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved basset hound, Daisy Mae, and her cat, Kramer. Margie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her willingness to help anyone in need.
Marge is survived by her loving husband, Terry; her daughters, Stacie (Michael) Lewis of Greenbank, WA, and Kelly (Shawn) Stender of De Pere, WI; and her cherished grandchildren, Delanie Lewis, Samuel “Sammy” Stender, and Charlotte “Charlie” Stender. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth “Betty” (Jeff) Nolder of Greenfield, WI, along with many nieces including Wendie Hauschild, Mandie Theodore, Katrina Nolder-Padilla, Lindsay Redmond, Leah Berlin, and Elizabeth Heine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother William “Billy” Wachal; and her nephew Matthias Nolder.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services in Casco. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm. Burial will take place at St. Hubert Cemetery in Rosiere at a later date.
