Marion E. Lufter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at her home in Kewaunee, WI.
Marion was born in Milwaukee, WI on June 19, 1931, the twin daughter of the late Carl Krueger and Viola 'nee Grober Krueger. She graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee. Marion married Marshall Esperseth in 1960; he preceded her in death in 1978. She worked as a practical nurse for over 31 years in Milwaukee.
Marion then met Maynard E. Lufter of Kewaunee, WI. They married on April 14, 1984 and enjoyed almost 35 years together. She so much enjoyed the small community of Kewaunee during those 35 years. Marion held a special place in her heart for her husband and for the family she was given when she married Maynard. Besides being with family, Marion worshiped the Lord singing in the Holy Rosary Church choir with Maynard, and was active in her community with the Meals on Wheels program and the Bridge Marathon. She enjoyed being a member of the Ladies Golf League and the Ladies Bowling League, along with pursuits of relaxation - watching the Milwaukee Brewer games on TV that she enjoyed with her hubby. Over the last few years, she lovingly cared for Maynard as he reached his 100th milestone birthday.
Marion will be missed dearly by her family - her loving husband, Maynard; "her" children, Martie (Jack) Roubal, Larry (Karen) Lufter, Pat (and the late Butch) Lufter, and step-daughter-in-law, Sally (and the late Bill) Champine; her grandchildren, Brenda (Jeff) Kleiman, Bryan (Jackie) Lufter, Beth (David) Martinez, Brent (Missy) Roubal, Kara (Dwane) Wilke, Heather (John) Summers, Ryan (Bobbi) Lufter, Chad (Katy) Behrendt, Michelle (Jeff) Baranczyk, Cory (Kara) Behrendt, Aletha Champine, and Bradley (Christina) Champine; her great grandchildren, Joe, Joyce (Justin), Jacob, Jaron, Jillene (Justin), Tyler, Jessica, Carl, Leyden, Evan, Noah, Ella, Ethan, Anika, Caleb, Savannah, Cheyenne, Sean, Mabel, McKenna, Lincoln, Colten, Clayten, Luke (Tamara), Kyle (Kristin), Samantha, and Bethany; her great-great grandchildren, Ella and Isabelle. Marion will also be dearly missed by her nieces, Vicki Akin, and Wanda (John) Ferraro and their children, Michael and Nicole.
Marion was preceded in death by first husband, Marshall; twin sister, Eileen (Gene) Akin; son, Maynard (Butch) Lufter; step-son, Bill Champine; and uncle Roy (Garoldyne) Grober.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, December 21, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kewaunee from 9:30am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon celebrated by Fr. James Dillenburg. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum in Milwaukee, WI.
