Obituary

Milton A. Anschutz, 79, Algoma. It is with great sadness that the family of Milton "Milty" August Anschutz Jr., announces his passing on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the age of 79.

Milt was born on December 5, 1946, to the late Milton Sr. and Betty (Simon) Anschutz in Sturgeon Bay, WI. He graduated from Sevastopol High School and proudly joined the United States Army, where he served his country in Korea and Germany. Following, he spent 8 years serving in the Army Reserves.

Milt was a master repair man. There wasn't much he couldn't fix, which led to a successful career at the Door County Co-op initially in appliance repair, then management of the propane department, where he retired.

On one special New Year's Eve, Milt met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Bettie) Rankin. As he walked her to the car that night, he slipped on the ice and right then and there, fell for her. They later wed on April 23, 1977, and proudly celebrated 48 loving years in marriage.

Milty's greatest joy in life was his wife, children, Chris (Katy) Churches, Jessica (Terry) Lipshetz, Brooke Anschutz and his grandchildren, Brandon, Connor, Claire and Lexi. He loved everyone dearly.

Milt enjoyed many years of hunting or "catching deer" as Claire and Lexi would say. He was an avid birder and enjoyed putzing around the yard with the most well-manicured lawn and flowers you ever seen. He loved annual family trips to Lakewood, fishing, motorcycles, cars and the art of keeping them clean.

He is survived by his family, sister Corrine Paschke, brothers Jerry (Kathy) Anschutz, and Edward Anschutz, in-laws Steve and Renae Rankin, Mark and Cheri Rankin, Carolyn VanLanen and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law Fern Rankin Paul, father-in-law's Elmer Rankin and Ed Paul, in-laws Robert Paschke, Lisa Anschutz, Patricia Rankin, and Ken VanLanen.

We will forever miss the way his eyes sparkled as he laughed and his radiant smile. Until we see you again, Papa. We love you.

A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services, Algoma, is assisting the family. Online condolences can be shared at KinnardFCS.com.

A special thank you to staff at Aurora Hospital, especially the kindness from Dr. Syed Shah, and Algoma EMS and Fire Department.
