Patsy Winston

Patsy Winston, 87, Casco, It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of our mother, Patsy Winston. She was born October 6th 1936, and died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of February 6th at Kewanee Health Services where she was receiving Hospice care.

Patsy had worked at a few restaurants after the kids were all in school, then later worked as a switchboard operator at Saint Francis hospital until she retired.

After all her kids were grown, Patsy met Robert Winston as pen pals (the old version of online dating), they were later married in 1989 and were very happy together till Bob passed in 1999.

Patsy loved visiting with family during any gatherings and watching all the grandkids playing and laughing. She loved watching the birds that sat at her feeders and we would joke about her being at war with the squirrels that insisted on raiding those feeders, that lasted a few years.

She enjoyed her visits in the common area of her building with her dear friends Rita, Mike, and Urah. Thank you for being her companion and friend.

Patsy is survived by her children, Mary Rae, Lynn Vermote, James Albert (Sally) Sommers, Lori King, Crystal (Russ Nell) Joski, Allen Sommers; grandkids, Stephen, Carrie, Joseph, Joshua, Cassandra, Catrina, Calvin, James Jr, William, Aneva, Alec, John, Andrew, Amanda, Alexandria, Caitlin; great-grandkids, Brooklyn, Bailey, Mason, Aiden, Xavier, Robert, Riley, Chloe, Lillian, Addison, Parker, Emma, Christian, Caleb, Ruxin, and soon to arrive Charli Jean; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Winston; son, James George Sommers Jr; grandson, Matthew Sommers; and all her siblings.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 12:00 pm-4:00 pm at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Casco. Online Condolence messages may be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
