Obituary

Peter J. Schleis, 65, Kewaunee, passed away suddenly Thursday, October 8, 2026. He was born in Kewaunee on May 18, 1961, to the late Jacob L. and Delores (Steinhorst) Schleis. Peter married Terri Michiels on May 5, 1984.

Peter grew up in Kewaunee. He was a person who always had plans and goals, was very organized and prompt. These traits, along with his love for Agriculture, helped him successfully run the family farm and Pete's Conveying Service (PCS) for many years. Peter was a gifted mechanic who enjoyed using those skills around home or wherever he could.

Peter was always up for a good time and often spent time playing cribbage, sheephead and aggravation. He had a strong faith in God. Peter was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary and most recently a member at St. Therese Parish. He had great love for his family and friends, and above all, he was a loving husband.

Peter is survived by his loving wife Terri; their children, Brian (Jana) Schleis, Kyle (Michelle) Schleis, Kelli (Jeff) Peterson, Marissa (Kaydi) Ramon; grandchildren, Lexi, Vera, Ezra, Charlie, Ellie, Grant, and Houston; brother Rodney (Julie) Schleis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sue (Francis) Wojta, Claire (Lloyd) Hlinak, Joe (Debbie) Michiels, Fred (Betty) Michiels, Mike (Angel) Michiels, Dan (Stacy) Michiels, Scott (Stacey) Michiels; further survived by many nieces and nephews, special family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Mary Ann Pardowsky; brothers-in-law Mark Salzsieder and Mike Pardowsky; sister-in-law Diane Schleis; father-in-law and mother-in-law Clarence and Glenda Michiels; brother-in-law John Michiels; and other close family and friends who will greet him in heaven.

A visitation will take place Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services, Kewaunee. Closing Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Dennis Sutter. Visitation will continue Friday, October 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Kewaunee. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Dennis Drury, Msgr. Jim Dillenburg, Fr. Peter Onyango, Deacon Dennis Sutter, and Deacon Dave Scheuer all officiating. Burial to take place in church cemetery.
