Reinhardt (Reiny) S. Hlinak

November 27, 1933 — October 9, 2022

Reinhardt (Reiny) S. Hlinak of Kewaunee, WI went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2022 at the age of 88. Reiny was born on November 27, 1933 in Kewaunee, WI to the late Charles and Mary Hlinak. After graduating from Kewaunee High School with the class of 1951, Reiny served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. Reiny then began his professional career at Kewaunee Engineering, where he worked for 44 years. On October 4, 1969, he was united in marriage to Joyce Wavrunek at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilsen, WI. Reiny was a proud member of the American Legion and Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Athletics were always a passion for Reiny. He played baseball and basketball extensively during his time in the service. He was involved in the Holy Rosary Athletic Club for many years, coordinating various events, including dart ball tournaments. Reiny played fast pitch softball for over 25 years, bringing home several championships. He helped organize and coach Little League baseball and he was a girls’ varsity softball coach for Kewaunee High School for several years. When he wasn’t busy on the ball fields, you could often find Reiny at a golf course, a bowling alley, sitting at a card table, or in the stands at Kewaunee High School. He was an avid Packer and Cubs fan but he was truly in his element when watching his children and grandchildren play ball games in his backyard. Reiny loved to travel. He loved entertainment, especially jazz music and he always enjoyed any time family and friends gathered together.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Joyce, include his two daughters, Sharon (Jason) Steel and Jeanine (Joe) Schweiss, grandchildren Savannah, Jake, and Justin Steel, and Evan and Ava Schweiss. Reiny is further survived by one sister, Sister Mary Charles Hlinak, sister-in-law, Caroline Hlinak, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Allen Zimmer, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and Larry Wavrunek. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, John, Francis, Jim and Charles Hlinak, his sister, Marion Hostak, brother-in-law Donald Hostak, three sisters-in-law, Joanne Hlinak, Janet Hlinak and Jeanie Hlinak, niece, Janice Jelinek and nephew, Brian Hlinak.
