Richard H. Mertens

Richard H. Mertens , 94, of Luxemburg passed away on July 24, 2018.  He was born on November 7, 1923 to the late Louis and Emma (Ferron) Mertens.  On September 12, 1944 Richard married Bertine Engelbert.  She preceded him in death on July 15, 2015.  Richard served in the US Army and worked for himself as a farmer. Richard was a complex man who became a jack of all trades as life presented itself.

Survivors include his three children, Jane (Martin) Pranga, Chicago; John (Carol) Mertens, Kewaunee; Robert (Rita) Mertens, New Franken; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Emily Bader and sister-in-law Eunice Gauger.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife Bertine; brothers, sisters, and in-laws, Margaret (Tony) Gallegos; Mike (Laura) Mertens, John (Celia) Mertens, Goldie (Mary) Mertens, Rose (Felix) Renard, Mary (Bill) Soquet, Louie (Helen) Mertens, Emma Mertens, Josie Mertens, Harold Mertens and Hamlin (Arlene) Mertens.

As per Richard's request his funeral and entombment were held privately on Saturday, July 28, 2018 the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Bay Settlement. Online condolences may be shared at www.wiesnermassart.com.
