Robert J. Levy

June 7, 1936 — July 7, 2022

Robert J. Levy, age 86 of the Town of Carlton passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022.  He was born on June 7, 1936 in the Town of Carlton, Kewaunee, Wisconsin to the late Joseph and Sybil (Koller) Levy.

Bob graduated from Carlton Graded School, attended Kewaunee High School and completed Carnation Technician AI Training School.  He married Judith Jorgensen July 5, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Algoma.  Bob was the 4th generation of Levys to work the family farm which was established in the 1870s.  He and Judy farmed in the Town of Carlton until retiring.   Bob also drove school bus for Erichsen Bus Service and worked as a technician for Carnation Genetics.

In 1967 he was recognized for having the first 600 pound average butterfat dairy herd in the State of Wisconsin. Bob was a director at the Kewaunee County Holstein Breeders Association and a member of the Wisconsin Holstein Friesian Association. He served as a Kewaunee County Farm Bureau board member and was active with the Czechs of Norman and the Moonriders snowmobile club.

Bob enjoyed collecting and restoring John Deere Tractors and vintage automobiles. Winters were spent on their John Deere snowmobiles with neighbors socializing at local taverns.  Bob enjoyed attending KHS athletic events and was an avid Packer Fan.  During their retirement, Bob and Judy enjoyed traveling and antiquing with friends.

Bob and Judy were lifelong members of St. Joseph Church in Norman, where he was a long-time usher.

Survivors include Judy, his wife of sixty-four years; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Cathy and Dave Vander Zanden, Combined Locks; Lynne and Bob Heskett, Kelly, WY; Cindy Maresh and special friend, Fred Roethle, Kewaunee; Laurie and Bill Faller, Polo, IL; four grandchildren; Will Faller, Angelia (Joe) Loescher, Robert Maresh, Haley (Nick) Gruetzmacher; three Greatgrandchildren: Silja Loescher, Kailey and Jensen Gruetzmacher; one sister: Eleanor Kleiman; 1 brother-in-law: Dale (Joyce) Jorgensen; and numerous Bruechert, Ihlenfeldt, Levy, Paquette, Kleiman and Jorgensen nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Fern, Delores, Dorothy, Hazel; three brothers, Merlin, Arden, Donald; his father-in-law Harold, mother-in-law Alsen, one sister-in-law and seven brothers-in-law.

Special thanks to the staff of Unity Hospice and Anna’s House in New Franken for the special care and concern they gave Bob and his family.

Visitation is from 9:30 to 11 on Tuesday, July 12 at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Tisch Mills.  The funeral service will follow at 11 with Father Jim Dillenburg officiating.  Internment at Knollwood Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
