Robert "Red" Weidner

April 23, 1924 — January 10, 2011

Robert "Red" Weidner , 86, died at Kewaunee Care Center on January 10, 2011, after a short illness. He was born April 23, 1924 in the Town of Lincoln to the late George and Louise(Simon) Weidner.

Red graduated from Algoma High School in 1941. He married June Sell on June 28, 1947. He was drafted into the Army in 1943 and served as a Radio Operator and Waist Gunner in a Flying Fortress B-17 Bomber in World War II. He was discharged from the Army in 1946. Red founded and operated Weidner Hatchery and Weidner Soft Water Service. He worked part time for the US Postal Service for 15 years before his retirement. He enjoyed forestry and spent most of his time at his tree farm in Euren.

He is survived by his wife, June; son, Robert(Sandy), daughter, Wendy(Glen) Stahl, daughter, Jane(Jack) Weier, daughter, Chris(Tom) Karcz, son, Steve and son, Scott(Ashley); brother, Rufus Weidner, New York; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betz Reynen; brothers, George, Arthur and John.

A private Memorial Service for the family will be held on Friday January 14, 2011 at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum with Military Honors to follow.
