Robert Lee Fameree, age 84, of Kewaunee died on Monday, November 8, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 14, 1937 in Kewaunee to Clifford and Minerva (Jirtle) Fameree. He attended Holy Rosary Grade School and graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1955 where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He attended St. Norbert College for one year and then enlisted in the Army. Upon his return, he married his beloved wife, Jacqueline (Swoboda) Fameree on July 25, 1959. He was employed at Kewaunee County Highway Dept. for 39 years.
Hardball, slow pitch and basketball were his passions and he played in all until he was 60 years old. He never missed a Brewer, Bucks, Wisconsin or Packer game on TV.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie, children Robin (Whitey) Vandermoss, Lori (Mike) Wickman, and son Jay (Lori Lynn) Fameree; sisters-in-law Bev (Dennis) Langteau and Pat Flippo; nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Minerva Fameree, brother Gale Fameree and his father/mother-in-law John and Myrtle Swoboda, brothers-in-law Gary (Jan) Swoboda, Lenny Willems and Vic Flippo, and nephew Tim Swoboda.
He was so proud of his 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and 3 on the way who called him “Grandpa Jelly Bean”. He described our family in one word “Love”!
Our family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Mortara, Patty, Kari, Martha, Julie and all the girls at the Bellin Cancer clinic along with granddaughters Hannah and Kristie for their excellent care. Thank you to Kewaunee Bellin clinic and Dr. Blake Lemke, Unity Hospice and especially Leah. Thanks to Pete for all the rides and visits and also to his friends who called and visited regularly, lit candles and kept him in their prayers.
Friends may call after 4:00pm on Wednesday, November 10th at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee, WI until 7:00pm at which time a parish wake service will be held. Visitation continues on Thursday at Holy Rosary Church from 9:30am to 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jim Dillenburg at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A funeral lunch will follow in Fr. Mike Hall.
