Rodney J. (Rod) Vlies , 66, of Algoma, WI, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, surrounded by his family at Bellin Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born September 14, 1952 to Norman (Moose) and Dorothy Vlies.
Prior to his retirement he had been employed at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit as a CNA, as well as with Home Health Care.
Rod enjoyed cooking, reading, painting and was a great story teller. But his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his nieces and nephews and their children.
He is survived by 3 brothers, Randy (Sandy), Rick (Wendy), Russell (Barb); two sisters, Roxanne (Paul) Moede, Rene (Vince) Velchek; 13 nieces and nephews, 22 great-nieces and nephews, special cousin, Vicki Vlies, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Douglas, Darrell, and Reggie.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lincoln from 8-10 am on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 10 am with Fr. Edward Looney officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
