Obituary

Roger E. Zuege, 84, Kewaunee, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025. Roger was born on March 18, 1941, to the late Sylvester and Mabel (Kuskabar) Zuege.

Roger joined the Navy right out of High School. After returning from serving his country, he married the love of his life, Linda. He was a proud family man. He loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren, showing them how to fix things the ‘right way’ … his way. Family brought so much joy to his heart. Tinkering and hard work ethic was in his blood. He spent his entire career at Kewaunee County Highway Department as a mechanic and shop foreman. When he wasn’t working, he was serving others. Roger and Linda volunteered at Holy Rosary providing service to family, friends, and the community. They enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, taking long car rides, working around the house, and sitting out in nature listening to the radio. His hobbies included hunting and fishing with his brothers, playing cards, traveling, casino trips, and storytelling. His attention to detail was off the charts. While he loved classic cars, it was key that their vehicle was clean and spotless with a weekly wash and wax. He was known as the dog whisperer. There wasn’t a dog in the family that didn’t listen to him. In his later years, it’s hard to say what lit him up more, the sounds of slot machines, or chocolate chip cookies and Lay’s potato chips. He was a humble man that will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Linda Zuege; children, Connie Gille of Algoma, and Aaron (Miranda) Zuege of Menomonee Falls; grandchildren, Brandon (Jannette) Paplham, Kolt Paplham, Brayden Gille; great-grandchildren, Kaia, Khalia, Annikin Paplham; sisters-in-law, Mary Hrabik and Mags Zuege; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mike (Kim) Hrabik, Tom (Cindy) Hrabik; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Mabel (Kuskabar) Zuege; son, Ricky; brothers, Kenneth, Donald, and Thomas; sister, Diane; nephews, Dean Zuege and Scott Zuege; in-laws, Robert and Ellie Hrabik; and brother-in-law, Bob Hrabik.

Visitation will take place on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:30 pm at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Kewaunee. Visitation will continue from 11:30-12:00 on Tuesday, November 25, 2024, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 pm with Fr. George Daniel officiating. Burial will take place in the church Cemetery with full military rites. Online condolences can be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
