Roland Sibilsky

March 16, 1921 — April 23, 2012

Roland Sibilsky, 91, Algoma, passed away Monday April 23, 2012 at Algoma Long Term Care Unit. He was born March 16, 1921 in Algoma to the late Herman and Mathilda(Dreher) Sibilsky. He married Luella Kirchman on December 27, 1952. She preceded him in death April 27, 1986.

Roland attended Silver Creek Grade School, St. Paul's School and graduated from Algoma High School in 1938. He was confirmed at St. Paul's in 1934. In 1940 he started working at US Plywood and entered the Armed Services(Air Force) on September 7, 1942. He returned home January of 1946 to work again at US Plywood until he retired in March 1986.

In his younger years, Roland worked at his parent's cheese factory and also worked on a farm, earning $1 per day. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, bowling, the St. Louis Cardinals(football) and the Chicago White Sox.

He is survived by a daughter, Roxann(Harry) Zastrow, Algoma; a son, Russel(special friend Lisa) Sibilsky, Algoma; grandchildren, Thomas Silbilsky, Amanda and Aimee Zastrow; a brother, Rufus(Marlene) Sibilsky; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella; a son, Bruce(Bomba) Sibilsky; parents, Herman and Mathilda; a sister, Edna Sibilsky; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma from 9 to 11am on Thursday April 26, 2012. Funeral Service 11am Thursday with Pastor John Moll officiating. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.
