Susan I. Shaffer

Susan I. Shaffer, 52, Kewaunee, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, peacefully with family by her side, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Kewaunee on August 24, 1972, to Ray and Jeanette (Skaleski) Van Goethem. She married Craig Shaffer on September 16, 2000, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pilsen.

Susan was a Lab Technician at Nature's Way. She loved spending time outdoors, golfing, hunting, fishing, and camping. She enjoyed the peacefulness of mowing the lawn, but most of all she cherished spending time with her family and friends. In 2024 she received the Champions Award at Nature's Way.

She is survived by her husband, Craig Shaffer; two sons, Riley and Tyler Shaffer; her parents, Ray and Jeanette Van Goethem; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Lynette Shaffer; brothers, Ron (Tracy) Van Goethem, Tim (Melissa) Van Goethem; sister, Janelle (Virgil) Robinson; brother-in-laws, Steve (Cara) Shaffer, and their children, Molly and Nate, Kevin (Nichol Johnson) Shaffer; her pet cat, Squeekers (Badiki); further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Van Goethem; nephew, Kevin Robinson; her grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.

A visitation will take place on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services, Kewaunee. A prayer services will take place at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 10:00 am - 11:45 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Kewaunee. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 pm with Fr. George Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
