Obituary

Wayne P. Heuer, 86, Kewaunee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Kewaunee with his family by his side. He was born November 26, 1939, to the late Orland and Gertrude (Zimmerman) Heuer. Wayne was a 1957 graduate of Algoma High School. Wayne served his country in the United States Army, on active duty, the National Guard, and reserves. He retired after twenty-four years of service.

Wayne married Eileen M. Paul on December 4, 1976, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Algoma. Wayne enjoyed bowling and wood carving. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter, having fished and hunted all over Canada and the northern United States. Music was always a special joy for Wayne. He started singing in church and choirs as a young boy. He also sang and played guitar at weddings and funerals. Wayne and Eileen especially enjoyed spending summers at Harbour Village Campground with family and friends. They also were involved in the Wisconsin Foster Care program.

Wayne worked for Wisconsin Public Service as a meter electrician and performed electrical system distribution technical maintenance. Over the years he attended multiple colleges earning certificates in the electrical field and strategic planning. He earned multiple promotions at WPS placing him into supervisory roles within the company. He retired in 1999 after 35 years of service.

Wayne is survived by his wife Eileen; their children Jackie (Rob) Passer, Livingston, TX, Jeff (Frecel) Heuer, Green Bay, Todd (Cheryl) Heuer, Hartford, WI, Tammy (Paul) Adamski, Sturgeon Bay, WI, David (Sally) Heuer, West Bend, WI, Michelle (Jeff) Stangel, Kewaunee, WI, Jessica (fiancé Mike) Heuer, Kewaunee, WI, Heather (Russ) Misencik, Evergreen, CO; seventeen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; brothers Martin Heuer and Ronald (Gina) Heuer; sisters Diane (Steve) Piette, Suzanne Vlach, and Sheila Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Major General David A. Heuer; father-in-law and mother-in-law Darwin and Ione Paul; sister-in-law Rita Heuer; brothers-in-law Dale Paul and Roger Paul.

A visitation will take place Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kewaunee. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Matthew Sprunger officiating. Military Honors to follow outside the church. Burial to place at Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma, at a later date.
