Wayne Porath, 61, Kewaunee, passed away at home, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
Wayne was born on March 17, 1953 in the Town of Lincoln to the late Melford and Mary Jane (DeCremer) Porath. He married Barb Selner on August 28, 1976 at St. Joseph's Church, Norman.
Wayne had a large garden that he loved attending to in the summer. He enjoyed many afternoons golfing with their group of friends. He also enjoyed coaching his childrens' various sports teams. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, and many friends. He was a very loving husband, father and friend to many. Wayne retired from the Kewaunee County Highway Department. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish, Casco and was actively involved with the Casco Lions and the Casco A's. Wayne donated many hours of his time through the years to many organizations. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; children, Rick (Heather) Porath, Brad Porath, Luke (fiance' Andrea) Porath, Rachel (Dave) Steffens; 3 grandchildren, Sean and Mikaela Steffens and Rhyann Porath; a sister, Sharon (Phil) Priebe; 2 brothers, Dan (Jan) Porath, Mark (Sue) Porath; mother-in-law, Viola Selner; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan (Dennis) Raisleger, Pat (Jerry) Jadin, Glenn (Karen) Selner, Jerry (Renee) Selner, Wayne (Tammy) Selner, Jean (Steve) Netols; 2 godchildren, Becky Schultz and Lindsay Shirley; many nieces, nephews and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Mel and Mary Jane Porath; father-in-law, Dan Selner; sister-in-law, Jan Porath.
Friends may call on Friday May 16th from 3 to 8pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Casco. Rosary 6pm followed by Casco Lion's Service at 7pm. Visitation Saturday morning at Wiesner-Massart Funeral Home, Casco until 10am. Funeral Mass 10:30am Saturday at Holy Trinity with Fr. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
