Kewaunee

Gary Paul Boltz , born in Port Orchard, Washington on April 20, 1944, passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 8, 2023, at the age of 78.

Gary was born to Paul and Bea Boltz. Growing up a son of a career Navy man, Gary was raised in numerous cities throughout his upbringing, but some of his favorite times were living in Okinawa, Japan, where as a child he would shell hunt along the shore or go exploring amongst the wilderness.

Traveling throughout his younger years sparked Gary’s curiosity and sense of adventure, which stayed with him throughout his life. After graduating from Kirkwood High School in 1962, Gary enlisted in the Marine Corps from 1962-1968 and served as an electrician in Norway. During that time, Gary also became a licensed pilot, making his first solo trip on 3/3/1966. Gary held numerous positions throughout his professional career including working in a pharmacy, a Green Giant plant, a nuclear plant, driving a school bus, owning a motorcycle shop, and much more.

In true “Jack-of-all-trades master of none” fashion, Gary’s hobbies were as widespread as his careers. In the 1980s Gary competed in motor-cross, winning many state awards. He was also a true lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, gardening, sailing, and teaching his grandkids how to pull in “tuggers” when fishing. On summer nights you could find him on his back patio, sipping a Busch and listening to his STL Cardinals on KMOX.

Those who knew Gary knew that if you had a question, there was a good chance that he had the correct answer. That is because he never stopped learning and was always seeking to expand his knowledge base, whether testing a new recipe, researching coins, or learning how to build his own boat.

Even with an abundance of hobbies and careers, Gary always made time for his family. As a father, he never missed a milestone or sporting event and was always dedicated to making sure his children were happy. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nadine Boltz (Behm), sister Judith Ann Boltz, brother John Boltz and canine companions Freckles, Chewy, Grasshopper, Coco and Yo. He is survived by brothers Howard Boltz, Ron  Boltz (Jill), Tim Boltz and sister Nancy Hall. As well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He often stated that his greatest joy was spending time with son Morgan “Boogs” Boltz (Kimberly), daughter Colleen “Beeps” Boltz (Brian Mikolajek), grandchildren Merideth and Lucas Boltz, and his four legged companion, Indi.

The family will host a celebration of life at The Grove N4494 State Highway 42, Kewaunee, WI on January 21st from 12pm-3pm. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services - Kewaunee is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolence messages may be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
